Captured at Mary River Station in 1989, this shot shows Melanie Rhodes (Bree Creevey’s mum) hauling in a massive buffalo bull, bringing him in for trucking and slaughter.

The Mary River was one of the toughest places to bull catch—a mix of floodplain, scrub, and deep swamp country. Buffalo ran hard, and the terrain made sure you worked for it. Bull catchers—Toyotas stripped to the bones, souped-up engines, and bars bolted on for protection—were the machines of choice. And in later years, the bionic arm changed the game.
